Last weekend Nathan was complaining about being "board". I immediately thought "I'll find you something to do, clean your room, take out the trash, pick up dirty clothes." But I knew none of those would do any good. I said, "if you read 25 books before school starts I'll give you $5, but you have to read 25". I thought this was a good deal, paying my kid to read. He thought about it for about 15 seconds and said, "how about 5 books and you pay me $20." Always negotiating. FYI, I said no.
